December 2013

This month is flying by!  Our children are busy practicing for the concert and making surprises for their families.  So far we have learned about their family traditions and about how other countries celebrate Christmas.  We have had a day of ornament making and a day of baking gingerbread people sugar cookies.  I think that the favorite part of our cookie making was icing and eating their cookies!

During free play Laken drew a picture for Mom.

Here Roderick and Liam decorate the felt trees.

Caleb is very proud of his tree!

Here the children are playing hide and seek.  Maddison is counting....

I love their hiding spots!

Even better, I love that Maddison is pretending that she doesn't see them!

Christmas Around the World

In Sweden they celebrate the festival of St. Lucia on December 13th and there is a parade led by a young girl dressed in white with a red sash around her waist and a crown of sprigs/leaves and candles is on her head. The children really enjoyed making their Christmas crowns just like in the traditions we talked about!

Rowan made his crown for his sister Harper!

Our Christmas Traditions

Rowan brought his chainsaw.  His family cut down a tree each year.

Megan's family watch "Frosty the Snowman" and she makes cookies with mom.

Claire's elf on the shelf, Patrick watches her and Tanner so they have to be good each other.  So far he has wrapped the TV in plastic and he was found in the bowl of oranges!

Alex's family have a picture taken in front of their Christmas tree and they send the picture out in their Christmas cards.

Roderick makes cards and ornaments.  This year he signed his own name on the cards!
