Sleeping Bunnies -the children follow the actions to the song. We use pictures of the animals and ask "What animal is this and what do they do?" The bunny hops, the dog - barks, the owl flies.....
Who’s Missing - *in a circle* the children close their eyes and then take a child out of the circle. Have the children guess who’s missing.
Dance Freeze - dance to the music, but when the music stops don’t move.
Musical Bumps - the kids scootch on their bums around the room to the music. When the music stops, they stand up. When the music comes back on, they sit down again and scootch.
Musical Carpets - the children each stand on a carpet. When the music starts, they children go around the room using a chosen gross motor skill or acting like an animal. When the music stops, the children must quickly find a carpet to stand on. Each time, remove a carpet or two – no one “gets out”, the children must share the carpets. Continue until there is only one or two left. You can also do this with hula hoops for musical hula hoops. Turkey footprints, shapes, colors, etc....
